LICHTWELTEN

Solo exhibition in the Rossauer Kaserne
from September 2nd to November 25th, 2022

Rossauer Kaserne
Roßauer Lände 1
1090 Vienna

The solo exhibition “Lichtwelten” took place over a period of three months in the spacious cafeteria of the Rossauer Kaserne. There were 26 artworks on display in six rooms and this extensive portfolio provided a wonderful insight into all of my recent artistic activity from mid-2021 to September 2022. Some artworks were exclusively made for this exhibition.

Exhibited artworks

The heart of the exhibition was the dining room with its bright red furnishing elements. It became the perfect scenery for my abstract artworks in the 80x80cm format, my up to this point only 1x1m artwork „Karibische Affäre” and the large triptych „Madreperla”. The hall merged with my artworks into a remarkable entity. On one hand, because the dominant color of a large number of artworks is red and thus reflects the stylistic elements of the furnishings and, on the other hand, because all the works except for the triptych were created on square canvases, which brought a perceived evenness and symmetry to the elongated room. A special eye-catcher was the bright yellow artwork „Karibische Affäre” in contrast to the red wall behind it.

My triptych „Basilikenhochzeit“ was exhibited for the first time. With overall dimensions of 70x150cm, it was perfectly placed in the long entrance area of the cafeteria. The artwork is characterized by fast, lively shapes, the elementary combination of the basic colors red, blue, green and yellow and a simultaneous balance between black and white. The particularly bright shade of red completes the unique signature of „Basilikenhochzeit“.

The rooms of the Rossauer Kaserne are characterized by a pronounced ceiling height and as a result by a remarkable spaciousness of the walls. Therefore, some artworks with a larger format were made especially for this exhibition. These include the three cosmic works „Tropennacht“, „Amethystnacht“ and „Erdbeermond“, the aim of which was a more realistic representation of space than my previous artworks. I also painted „Karibische Affäre“ and the triptych „Madreperla“ for the occasion of the exhibition. These two works follow the same color scheme.
