The magic of the smallest bird in the world.

The BIENENELFE (literally “bee elf”) is considered the smallest hummingbird species and the smallest bird in the world. It is barely larger than the bee that gives it its name. Its wings beat a breathtaking 80 times per second. The design of this artwork pays homage to the graceful agility of this elfish hummingbird. Tropical pastel shades form a bridge to its habitat in Cuba.

BIENENELFE belongs to the three-part KOLIBRI series (as well as SCHMETTERLINGSELFE and PFAUENELFE). The balance of black and white shapes embedded in different color patterns is a key design element of this series. Black contours and patterns form the basis. A color cocktail and fluffy white shapes and clouds dance around it.

The artwork BIENENELFE is designed in summery pastel colors: Green-yellow blends with salmon pink, forming a flowing transition to delicate purple and finally light blue and turquoise blue.
