As part of the themed exhibition „Geometrie”, eight of my cosmic artworks with planetary representations were exhibited in the gallery Publicartists in the 8th district of Vienna. While I love imaginative and abstract designs, I have dealt intensively with the correct representation of round objects and especially spheres in the course of my artistic career. The central factors of light and backlight were already the focus of my still life studies in 2011. In the visual construction of planets in my current work I combine abstract patterns with realistic sphere design.

Exhibited artworks

The heart of my contribution to the thematic exhibition was the three-part series “Space Windows” which includes my first three larger-format cosmic artworks. The paintings measure 70x70cm each and their size and picture details give the impression of looking straight out of a window into space.

The eight artworks on display spanned a period of two years and showed my artistic development that took place during this time. I started with smaller and less complex works in the 40x40cm format at the end of 2019 and then significantly expanded my stylistic repertoire with the completion of the “Space Window” series by mid-2020. This is followed by the two very different works “Morgenland” and “Union” from spring and summer 2021. Here I would like to highlight “Morgenland” in particular.

From November 2020 to April 2021 I was unable to devote myself to my art due to health problems. I stopped taking the antidepressant venlafaxine which triggered months of severe withdrawal symptoms and made normal everyday life impossible. Some processes in my body were pushed so out of balance that I still notice irritations in certain areas two and a half years after stopping the drug. The artwork “Morgenland” was created in May 2021, a month after I felt able to paint again. For me it symbolizes my ability to see the beauty of life and create something new even in the face of the indescribable hopelessness of an injured soul.
